CARLARIS AND ROYCROFTER ; Shoes Worn by Both Colts in Coffroth Handicap to Be Among Trophies at Homewood. Fifty of the stables that are at Tijuana have requested reservations at Washington 1 Bark race track, and Carlaris shoes are on the way. That is the substance of a telegram received yesterday by the Illinois Jockey Club from L. J. Kgan, western representative of the club, at San Diego. Kntry blanks have been distributed by Mr. Kgan for the i thirty-one day meeting beginning July 3 at Washington Bark track, and many are already in the mail. The latter part of his telegram, regarding • Carlaris shoes, means that the shoes worn by that great race horse when he won the Coffroth Handicap, will soon be the property of the Illinois Jockey Club. Thomas E. Bourke, general manager, and O. Frank Croissant, whose Boycrofter ran second in that memorable race, both witnessed it Quickly as Carlaris flashed under the wire, they hastened to W. T. Fatty Anderson, Carlaris owner, and Mr. Bourke asked for the winners shoes. Anderson agreed, and now the shoes, polished and mounted on a velvet covered board, are on their way to Chicago via registered air mail. They will adorn the lounge of the Washington Bark Club house at Homewood. Alongside will be the plates worn by Boycrofter in the same race. As both horses I are entered for the revival of the American Derby, these two sets of horseshoes bid fair to constitute a memorable trophy of the turf. Mr. Bourke has been in the Fast for the past week, at Bowie, Havre de Grace, and New York. He is due to return today, bringing with him entries for the various great stake races to be run at Washington Park ; track.
