OPENING AT BEULAH PARK Ohio Racing for 1926 Ushered in Before Large Crowd — Inaugural to Green Woods. CO I J Ml: IS. Ohio.. April 17.— Racing was ushered in at Peulah Park this afternoon before a large crowd which turned out for | the sport despite the fact a clouded sky obscured the rays of the sun which had shone warmly earlier in the day. The Inaugural Handicap, the fifth and feature race of the opening day card, resulted In a hard fought contest and well deserved victory for J. .1. Heddermans Green Woods, which under a hustling ride outstayed Pockford from the i:. Creech stahle after a hard stretch duel. These two dominated the running of the race at all stages while Pruneth came from far back to get up in time for third money. Pough and Peady ran a good race but lost I Iii.s rider when but a few yards from the finish. His | -addle slipped unseating J. Judy, his Jockey who escaped serious injury. In the opening race of the afternoon the largest field of the day faced the barrier and a slight delay at the post occurred when Kill Shaffer acted fractiously. W. A. Mc-KinncCs colors were carried to victory in this race when Ped Weed finished fast in the last eighth and defeated Big Sapp in the final drie. Black Mask saved third honors by a narrow niai-gin. Jack Pot showed the way by a slight margin all the way in the secot.d rOCO, but had to be hustled along at the finish to stall off May Prosper. Sir Glenn just got up in time for third place. In the third race Kvening Star had the most speed throughout, but w;us put to a drive In the elosing stages to hold off Glenn. The latter followed the leader all the way and was gaining at the finish. Peace Pal finished gamely to be third. J J. Pussrll supplied the winner of the fourth when I.ang Syne set the pace from the first quarter and was well in hand at the end. This race was a condition affair for three-year-olds. Glib proved best of the other starters for the place money. After showing the way throughout Spirea was the easiest kind of a winner in the sixth race and was going well at the end. Kelario bested the others in the stretch for second place, while Son of Tromp came from the rear for third.
