Dick Welles* Selections At Havre De Grace fi k "; 5 I J v s s , J I a t to . j ■ a I : POST HORN— CAPTAI JACK— GNOME SECOND. POST HORN and CAPTAIN JACK should furnish a lively time in the first race. POST HORX holds a slight advantage over the latter, however, and should be the one to be home the winner. CAPTAIN JACK has been »n;ered several times since arriving from Miami, but each time his trainer declared him out of the race for one reason or another. He showed well over the Florida course and is expected to be a keen contender all the way here. ONOMK SECOND showed a couple of good races over the Bowie course and a race back to either one of those efforts would find him getting the show money. CANISTER— DREAM MAKER-LEATHER WOOD. CANISTER has been burning up the track in her morning trials and a race to those works would find her home an easy winner. These works followed her last out when she was a bang-up second to St. Valentine. DREAM MAKER performed well in his last race when he forced Everglade to do his best to beat him a neck. In his present good form • he is going to cause the winner all kinds of trouble. LEATHERWOOD won his last race in a most convincing fashion, but the company he meets here is of a different sort and dont look for him to prove a repeater. Think he is good enough to race to the show. BEST SHOT— LEMXOS— GOLDEN WANDERER. Twenty three-year-olds of the plater lass meet in the third race and as the limit number is expected to go postward it will take a fast breaker to get away from the pack in order to avoid the crowding and jostling ; which will come with the running. BEST SHOT is usually away in the first flight and should go well here. Her last race here found her finishing third to Mabel C. and Panola She is reported to be in racing trim at the present and should be the one to score. LEMNOS had a race at Bowie since coming | I Maryland but he didnt fare so well. Look j for him to do better today. COLDKX WANDERER has been praised so much that he is hard one to pass up. Is well liked for the third money. DUST IP-MONTFERRAT— WAR LORD. DUST UP is picked to beat MONTFEK- ; | I j RAT in the fourth number. This Seagram racer showed exceptionally well over the Miami course and is able to do better than that which he showed in his last race. MONTFERRAT was able to graduate in hir last race and he accomplished the task in a most convincing fashion. If he were to run the same race today he would cause the winner all kinds of trouble. WAR LORD, a son of the mighty Man o" War has not been seen in action this year. He has been working in fine style and is the one expected to take third. CUDGELLER— FORECASTER— GOLDEN SPIRE. CUDGELLER now has two victories in a row, after his winning race on Saturday, and is in the best of form and look for him to run his score to three. He is asked to pack top weight of 126 pounds but he should be able to give this bunch a few pounds and a licking. FORECASTER is in at 124 pounds but he does not rate anywhere near CUDGELLER at the weights. He won his last out carrying 113 pounds but dont think he can pick up eleven pounds and repeat. GOLDEN SPIRE raced fairly well at Miami and if he has retained his form will very likely prove a hard one to beat. JACQUES— RUSOVIA— HICKORY. JACQUES raced disappointingly in his last out and is well able to show to much better advantage. Possibly the jockey who w:is aboard him his last out had something to do with his defeat. If a good rider can be found to pilot him, thing he will go well here. RUSOVIA hasnt raced any too well in his recent starts but if he runs anywhere near his latest workouts will be the one to take down the place money. HICKORY, on his last race, may take third. FORNOVO— GRAY GABLES-GRAND BEY. In the concluding race on the program FORNOVO looks much the best. Since competing over the Maryland courses he has won once and finished second twice. Whatever opposition he meets should come from the Bedweil racer, GRAY GABLES. The latter has been rather slow in rounding into winning form but his last races indicate that he is going to improve. GRAND BEY has raced well of late and appears to be easily best of the others.
