i ft A Illinois Racing Bill Passes House SPRINGFIELD, 111., May 4. — The Lager racing measure, which would legalize the use of the pari-mutuel method of wagering in connection with horse racing in the State of Illinois, passed the House of Representatives late yesterday by a vote of 85 to 55. The bill* now goes to the Senate where, according to good authority, it has an excellent chance of passage. The Lager bill, it is estimated, will bring to the state approximately 00,000 a year. Under the provisions of the measure the tracks within twenty-five miles of a city of 500,000 or more in population must pay a daily license fee of ,500. Below that limit the fee is ,500. In addition to this sum the tracks are required to pay the state 20 cents on every admission. • The pari-mutuel method of betting is the only one countenanced in the bill and wagers must be laid only on races at the track. Minors are not allowed to bet. The track retains not to exceed 6 1-2 per cent of the money bet and the "breaks," but the "breaks" shall be on the cent. • $
