At Aurora One Best Bet — SETHS ROMANCE — in the Fourth Race. Aurora promises to have its first real stretch of fast track racing for no more rain has made its appearance and the going is not far from being in its best condition for the first time of the present meeting. The time hung up in the various races Wednesday was not far away from being what it will be when the going becomes fast and, with a spell of good weather and a fast racing strip, picking the winners should not be the arduous task it has been in the past. Form is generally better observed on a fast track and it likewise brings the better class of horses into competition. While there is no outstanding feature on Thursdays card, the program offered is one that should satisfy the patrons of the sport, closely matched fields being entered for most of the events. A handicap number over the mile distance is the headliner, but the contestants are not what would be called top-notchers. Five of the numbers are at sprinting distances, while one distance event is carded, it being the final, at a mile and an eighth. CHARLES WHITNEY— TOILER— ST. NICHOLAS. With an improved track in order, CHARLES WHITNEY should show to good advantage and a race to his best form would possibly see him getting home in front. TOILER was a game winner in his last start and a repetition of that effort here would make him a hard one to beat. ST. NICHOLAS seems to be nearing a winning trip and may turn the trick today. CARLOS ENRIQUE is always dangerous in this sort of company and should not be ignored. SLIPPERY SMILE rates a good chance. BOYS BELIEVE ME— JIM BETHEL — C. T. WORTHINGTON. BOYS BELIEVE ME seems to be close to a winning performance and should fare well in this field. He is of the honest sort, always giving his best and today should be no exception. JIM BETHEL scored easily in the mud in his last out and may prove a repeater today. He can race well in any kind of going. The last race run by C. T. WORTHINGTON was a poor one for him and should be thrown out of the calculations. Give him another chance today. CARRIE BELLE— RUSHEE— GAY HALLIE. The third, at three-quarters, seems to be a tight fit between CARRIE BELLE and RUSHEE, with the former given the edge. CARRIE BELLE was a consistent winner at Havana and beat horses of better class than she is meeting here. RUSHEE has won her last two races and, while she is bound to prove a tough one to beat, believe that CARRIE BELLE is possessed of more class and will prove the best. GAY HALLIE is about due for an improved showing and may be good enough to earn the show end of the purse. JOE JUNIOR is not expected to provs a repeater. SHASTA GRANDE rates » chance if in her best form. SETHS ROMANCE— CRISPIE SETH— LADY ONEIL. What appears to be a real good betting proposition is spotted in the two-year-old number to be run as the fourth. This trick is SETHS ROMANCE, winner of four out of five races this year, her racing all being over the Tijuana course. She only has to run her usual race today to score with ease. Another Seth filly, CRISPIE SETH, figures to land in second place. She raced well in her only appearance here and seems easily second best of the field. LADY ONEIL is a recent winner, but does not measure up to the first two mentioned. INDRA is a bit outclassed. EAGER— DONNA SANTA— RE BECK. In the handicap offering, EAGER is selected to win. He turns in a good effort every now and then and his recent trials have been such as to expect him to give a good account of himself in todays race. DONNA SANTA is showing improvement with each race and may give the winner plenty of argument, if in a running mood. REBECK is better suited to the distance of todays race and is sure to improve over her last start PAPA BLINKS raced well at Havana, but may need a race or two to fit him for his best. BURNT prefers a longer distance. MISS ROSEDALE— NEW BEAUTY— FLAG LIEUTENANT. If MISS ROSEDALE would race in the same style as marked her last affair over the Miami course, she would not have much trouble in winning the sixth race. In her Miami race she took the lead at the start and, at the end, was drawing clear to win by a length and a half. NEW BEAUTY is the one MISS ROSEDALE has to beat and the latter would not surprise by winning. FLAG LIEUTENANT prefers a longer distance, but his early speed may give him a good chance today. BEAUTY STAR may prove a repeater. THEO. FAY is outclassed in tnis company. LETTER SIX— RIB GRASS— CAPT IN ADAMS. LETTER SIX looms up as the most likely winner of the concluding number. He has one winning race to his credit at this meeting and would only have to put up the same sort of an effort today to win. RIB GRASS has been working well and appears to be ready for a race. If in good form, he is apt to prove troublesome. CAPTAIN ADAMS has won his last two races and may make it three in a row, though he is meeting better company today. REVEILLON should not be overlooked.
