NEVADA STOCK FARM AGAIN « Accounts for Juvenile Race, the Pimlico Nursery Stakes. 0 Chicleight Defeats Peter Snow and Jubilee and Adds ,950 to Coffers of Owner. PIMLICO, Md., May 2.— Chicleight. a big brown filly by Chicle — Ruddy Light, which races for the Navada Stock Farm, accounted for the Pimlico Nursery Stakes this afternoon when she beat Walter J. Salmons Peter Snow by three-quart rs of a length, with the Salubria Stables Jubilee third. There were eight starters and Chicleight was favorite. There was a delay of eight minutes at the post and when starter Milton finally released the barrier Coin Collector, from the Sagamore Stable, reared up and was left at the post. Chicleight and Peter Snow were the quickest to begin and Peternell rushed the former into a long lead before they had gone an eighth. Entering the home stretch Schaefer called on Peter Snow and the latter responded with a burst of speed that made many of the favorite players nervous. Chicleight had a bit left and she, too, finished with good courage. She was tiring at the end, however, and had to be ridden out in the last sixteenth. The stake race had an added value of ,000 and was worth ,950 net to the winner. Chicleights victory made it a double for the Nevada Stock Farm and incidentally brought the total number of two-year-old races won by the western sportsmans horses at the Maryland meetings this spring up to ten. There was a large crowd present and the spirited finish aroused much enthusiasm. Virado scored his fourth victory for the Nevada Stock Farm when he won the first race at Pimlico this afternoon. Ridden by Peternell and making all his own pace, Virado led George W. Lofts Blandris by a length and a half at the end. S. W. Labrots Elfrieda G. was third. In the early running the Sagamore Stables Saturday Night showed keen speed. He began from the extreme outside, moved up to Virado the first eighth and the pair raced like a team to the head of the home stretch, where Saturday Night began to tire. At the end the latter dropped out of contention and was beaten off. The youngsters, from the Nevada Stock Farm Stable, have been in great form this spring, and Virados win this aftsrnoon marked the ninth that they have won at the Maryland tracks, five at Bowie, three at Havre de Grace, and the other today at Pimlico. Max Hirsch saddled another winner when he sent Social Mug to the post in the Annapolis Claiming Purse. Social Mug, which races for E. M. Byers, was ridden by F. Weiner. Outrun to the home stretch, the son of Brown Prince II finished fast in the last eighth to get up in _the final strides to win by a nose from Lassa. Lady Marie, an odds-on favorite, was beaten by a neck for second place. Lady Marie and Lassa raced Continued on twentieth p;ige. Little had the latter under restraint attempting to rate her and in the stretch, where he attempted to draw away, Lady Marie tired. - Just as they reached the sixteenth post Lassa bumped her a couple of times, which did not improve her chances any. This was Lady Maries first effort since the Bowie meeting, when she finished second to Sunsard in a three-quarters mile race run in 1 ill-:,. She lacked that speed this afternoon and evidently does not fancy the footing at Pimlico. A stirring contest came with the running of the third race when the Sagamore Stables handsome son of Bunting. Nursery Rhymes, just managed to last long enough to beat Willis Sharpe Kilmers Sun Clover. The field was a well matched one, with Portia having a slight call over the others. Ambrose sent the McLean racer to the front when the start came and she led for the first eighth. Near the half mile post Callahan sent High Game through with a rush next to the inside rail and took the lead and retained it until entering the home stretch. Walls then made his move with Nursery Rhymes and passed the pacemaker. At the eighth post Charles H. made a determined effort and almost got on even terms with the leader. Nursery Rhymes, under punishment, stood off this challenge and although he tired some at the end lasted long enough to win by a head. Sun Clover was going the fastest of the pair at the finish. A length and a half back was the tiring Charles II. Portia faded out of the picture when the real test came and was not persevered with.
