AURORA AURORA, 111., May 2. Charley Gross, trainer of the Dearborn Stable, has put in training Scoop, Cartoon, Monarchist and Needle Point. The horses were turned out during the winter. Eglantine, which broke down at New Orleans, will be retired. Pat Dunne, veteran trainer and owner, was granted a license by the stewards to train the horses of M. P. Murnan. They are Widely Known, Club House and Little Helen, all maidens. He will also handle Sweet Recollections, which runs in his name. The apprentice E. Johnson, under contract to the Dearborn Stable, was given a license as well as G. Hallett, another apprentice under contract to F. Farrar. Guy Mangan, veteran jockey, was an arrival from New Orleans. Mangan was injured in Maryland last fall and has not been active since. He expects to start galloping horses in a few days. Another apprentice rider embarked upon his riding career at Exposition Park Wednesday when Ralph Warner had his first mount on B. Bermans Tribal in the sixth race. The youngster is under contract to Berman and is a native of Chicago. B. F. McClain, Jr., represented in the fifth race by Dry Moon, claimed Fo rebec from the Palmo Stock Farm at a cost of ,500.
