PIMLICO BALTIMORE, Md.. May 2. Jockey Francis packed his trunk and departed for the Fairmount Park track at St. Louis. Among todays visitors were W. H. Robinson and Harry A. Manley of the Clumberland Fair Association. The former is a member of the race committee, while Manley is the general manager of the club. They came over to consult with Edward Brennan, who acts as racing secretary of the meeting, regarding the condition books, which will be issued shortly. Jockey A. Abel is under contract this season to Miss K. E. Hitt. He will leave for Belmont Park at the conclusion of this meeting. At the conclusion of the Pimlico meeting, Thomas Gray will join forces with H. G. Bed-well, for whom he will act as agent. E. S. Weller had fifty two-year-olds at the barrier at Pimlico this morning. The schooling hours here are from S to 10 a. m. at the three-quarter chute. James Healy, Sr.. was an arrival at Pimlico Tuesday morning with fifteen horses, several of which are jumpers that will carry-Mrs. F. Ambrose Clarks colors in the steeplechases to be run at the Maryland Jockey Clubs meeting. Healy left twelve horses at Belmont Park and there are still ten at the Healy farm at Glascow, Dela., where he wintered about forty horses. There are already twenty-one on the preferred list at Pimlico fo" three-quarters mile races, and seven for half mile contests. Jockey J. Callahan is here with the W. L. S. Martin stable and will make his appearance in a race in a few days. Joe Morris has placed Dr. Hickman on a freight car and shipped him to Hamilton, Ohio, where a meeting is scheduled to begin May 14. John P. Turner is here acting as J. B. Campbells assistant in the secretarys office. Flying Torch, the beaten favorite in the fourth race Tuesday, was claimed by O. Chaney. for ,500. Immediately following the sale of the Edward F. Whitney horses in the paddock at Pimlico on Thursday, Sergt. A. A. Swenke will offer the brood mares Dress Goods, by Uncle ; Privilege, by Imp. Mont dOr ; St Kilda, by Lucky Hour and Sea Tag, by Imp. Athling. Clyde Ponce has severed his connections with the Glen Riddle Stable and will ride as a free lance at the Pimlico meeting. Jockey R. Duplessis was suspended for the remainder of the meeting by the stewards for rough riding. Penguin was claimed out of the last race Monday by J. McNamara for ,200. Jockey Kelsay cancelled his riding engagements today because of illness. Tom Gorman, racing secretary of the Connaught Park Jockey Club of Ottawa, was a visitor of the day, interesting horsemen in the forthcoming meeting to be held at that point. Walter Faust, New Orleans sportsman, made his first appearance of the season. Bert Johnson and Ray Scherer. prominent lawnites, also reported on the ailing list.
