The latter saved ground where possible and finished resolutely. XCELLENZA began slowly, but closed up some ground near the end. LII.LA R. had no mishaps. HELEN HANDSEL ran out when tiring after showing speed for five eighths. LACKDALE reared up into the air and was pulled up after he bolted on the first turn. STORMY closed a gap then tired. LOUD SPEAKER and TOM HAYES were done after going three-quarters. GALLOPING DAWN was eased up when beaten.
