SHASTA LAD SCORES EASILY Haughton Colorbearer Canters to Victory in Feature Race at Beulah Park. COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 2.— Taking command at once B. Haughtons Shasta Lad never left the result in doubt during the running of the Deshler-Wallick Hotel Handicap, which featured the card at Beulah Park this afternoon. At the end he won with considerable to spare. Smacker finished fast in the last quarter and outstayed Sergeant Seth for second honors. Sergeant Seth was tiring after having raced in closest pursuit of the winner until mid way of the stretch. Showing a poor performance compared to that of Saturday, Silver Song was permitted to drop completely out of contention after having raced in third position for the three quarters. Besides the purse, worth 25, a split second watch went to the winning owner, donated by the Deshler-Wallick Hotel Company. Real summer-like weather prevailed and racing was under ideal conditions. In fact the watering cart made its seasons debut on the course. An excellent wid-week day crowd witnessed the sport and was well rewarded by being furnished with high class entertainment. *.
