6 4 1 Chaffee Earl Buys 2-Year-Old Jim Dandy for Reported 5,000 • § LEXINGTON. Ky., May 16.— Col. W. S. Dudley this morning at Louisville sold his good colt Jim Dandy, by Jim Gaffney — Thunderbird dam of Ormonbird and Vimont, by Stir Shoot, to Chaffee Earl, for a price approximating 5,000. The purchaser is president of the Earl Petroleum Company of Los Angeles, and is the owner of the Wilshire Stable, of which Naishapur is the star member. John B. McKee is trainer of the stable, and it was he who selected Naishapur and won the Tijuana Derby with him, and he has likewise selected Jim Dandy to be a member of the band. McKee has bought .many good horses in his time for various owners, but Colonel Dudley said today it is doubtful if he ever bought a better racing prospect than Jim Dandy. "He was a jim dandy from the day he was foaled, and thats why we named him so," said he. "You know," he added, "that his mother is a 100 per cent broodmare. Her first three foals are winners. Her fourth is the yearling colt by Bubbling Over, the spit image of his sire, and her fifth is the suckling filly, by Monks Way, a very nice filly." A
