FEDERAL RESERVE, away quickly and showing the most speed, withstood repeated challenges from 1 FLASHING in the early running and, racing gamely through the final drive, outfinished CLIFTONS MAID. The latter, on the inside from the start, was hard ridden, but barely failed to get up. FLASHING raced close up. but failed to make up any ground when hard ridden. SIDNEY W. ran well. GIN BOAT, saved close up for the first mile, ra -d to the leader with a rush when called on and tpok the lead at the twelfth jump, then drew far away and won In a fanter. VOCALIAN jumped well tor the first turn of the field, but struck several of the Jumps afterwards and, tiring badly In the laBt 1 1 1 * 1 1 1 1 I 1 1 half mile, was ridden out to the limit to outfinish BEVERWYCK. The latter jumped well and showed the most speed for a mile and a half, then tired badly. WINOYA raced well for a mile. YOlNG KITTY, displaying keen speed, moved into a good lead on reaching the back stretch, was rated along thereafter, resisted contention from CAMPANINI and held on well to stall off VISCOSE. The latter, outrun early, went to the outside of the leaders, finished fast and was wearing the winner down gradually. CLEAR SKY kept well up and outfinished STRONGHEART. The latter tired after making a challenge when leaving the back stretch. PATRICIA J. performed far below her best form and showed no speed. AI.EX WOODLIFFE assumed command going to the first turn, stalled off early opposition from TROJIS. saved ground all the way and, holding on with good courage, had something in reserve to resist COTTAGE BOY. The latter moved up fast nearing the far turn, drew on almost even terms with the winner, but tired nearing the finish. FENLIGHT. outrun early, worked her way around the others and finished gamely. BROWN WIZARD, away quickly, raced into the lead and. setting a good pace for the first three-quarters, was shaken up when entering the home stretch and easily held AFRICAN safe. AFRICAN was far back in the early running, but secured racing room on the inside when leaving the half-mile mark and closed a gap gamely. BLACK DIAMOND raced close up for seven-eighths and tired. BILLYCOCK rushed into the lead at once, was rated along while racing with MALCOLM and IZETTA. shook the latter two off entering the home stretch and had speed in reserve to stall off HEDGEFENCE. The latter raced along in a forward position, saved ground approaching the home stretch, secured racing room along the inner rail, but was held safe. IZETTA, a prominent facto* from the beginning, continued gamely to the end. MALCOLM, close vp throughout, lost ground at the stretch turn, but held on well. FLAMINGO showed speed and may have needed the race. The others were outrun. Scratched— 35848 All Virginia, 118.
