VATOUT SCORES IN FRANCE Cohn Colt Triumphs in One of Feature Races at Long- champs Course. PARIS, France, May 20.— Va tout, the three-year-old by Prince Chimay — Vashti, for which there was no public demand when he was offered as a yearling at the Deauville sales by his breeder, M. Goudchaux, won the 1,600 meter race for colts at Longchamps yesterday. It was Guineas Day and in the similar event for fillies, F. De Alzaga — Unzues Poesie, a daughter of Cannobie and Prude, was the winner. She defeated G. Wilden-steins Kantara, while Jamistra, owned Dy the American Ralph Beaver Strassburger, was third. E. Esmonds Necklace was unplaced in the field of fourteen starters. Poesie won by half a length, with Jamistra two lengths back. Vatout, which is owned by Captain Jefferson Davis Cohn, won from Cheval Troie by three lengths. Frelon was third. There were eighteen starters, and the field included Pierre Wertheimers La Fayette, a son of Epinard, which finished last. As a yearling Vatout was left unsold with four others in the Goudchaux consignment two years age. They were brought privately by E. Heliopoulos for less than ,000. Last year Captain Cohn claimed Vatout in a selling race at Chantilly. The colt is not engaged in either the French Derby or Grand Prix de Paris.
