MORDEAR raced close up on the outside to the stretch and, passing the leaders, outfinished KEEPER. The latter raced in close quarters on the inside, but improved his position gradually and out-gamed KNOCKABOUT. KNOCKABOUT showed the most early speed and raced well to the stretch, hat tired when forced to a drive. FACE CREAM had no mishaps and saved ground on the turns. CAN-AQUE and CLEAR STAR tired after racing well for the first half mile. ILLUMINE was in a tangle at the start, but recovered quickly and, showing great speed, raced int« second place in the first quarter, then passed FLORA LEVY in the stretch, but tired and had to be ridden hard to outfinish WOODFACE. The latter raced close up from the start and came gamely in the final drive. THISTLE PRINCESS raced far back for the first quarter, but came rapidly in the stretch. FLORA LEVY had a big advantage at the start and showed the most early speed, but tired badly in the last sixteenth. HAM had no mishaps. SETHS JEWEL began well and raced close up in the early running, then finished gamely when ridden hard and passed THISTLE JOHN in the last seventy yards. THISTLE JOHN, a quick beginner, raced into a good lead in the first quarter, but began tiring after going a half mile. THE COACH began slowly and raced wide and, hard ridden for nearly the entire race, just lasted to save third place. CORRINE D. saved much ground on the last turn and was racing gamely at the end. CLARK raced into the lead after making the far turn and, continuing gamely in a long, hard final drive, managed to outstay BROWNIE SMILE. The latter was saved for the first three-quarters, closed up rapidly on the outside in the stretch, almost getting up to wear the winner down. CATESBY saved ground throughout, raced well and gamely outstayed SAGAMOOK. The latter made up much ground from a slow beginning. RED DRAGON showed the most early speed and, gradually losing the lead on the far turn, suddenly went down. GOLDEN TOP, unable to avoid the prostrate RED DRAGON, fell over him.
