WHITNEY COLORS TO FORE 9 Murky Cloud Defeats Keep On in Clover Stakes. » Coe Entry Disappoints Numerous Admirers In Aqueduct Feature — Becreation Outruns Joe Marrone III. •— NEW YORK. N. Y-. June 20 —Murky Cloud. H. P. Whitneys good daughter of Mad Hatter — Meadow Mist, was winner of the feature offering of the Queens County Jockey Club at Aqueduct today, when she outgamed W. R. Coes Keep On to scoix- in the Clover Stakes, for two-year-old fillies. The prize had a net value ot ,200 to the winner, and third was the portion of Erin, from the Whitney Stable, the topweight of the field. Eight started and, in the early running, it was Pansy Walker, from W. T. Waggoners Three Ds Stock Farm Stable, that was showing the way. Keep On was not far back of the Waggoner filly and, at the elbow ot the course, she was showing in front, but she had no sooner taken command than Workman moved up outside of her and the tight was on to the end. In the last eighth Murky Cloud ran straight and true, and Workman outrode Inzelone, with the result that Murky Cloud was home the winner by half a length, while Keep On just beat Erin, which had raced lorwardly and on the inside, only a neck further back, and a head before Conclave, a stablemate to Keep On. The result was a decided surprise, for Conclave had beaten Murky Cloud in a previous meeting, though a disqualification placed the Whitney filly first. Then Keep On had raced so brilliantly in the National Stallion Stakes that it was generally agreed before the running thit the Coe hand was a particularly strong one. LADKIN HANDICAP. J. Livingstons Recreation came back with a good race in the Ladkin Claiming Handicap, when she led home Mrs. T. U. Queens Joe Marrone III., with Spear Rock, from the Pleasure Bay Stable, racing third before Genial Host. From a good start, Fields took a rail position and, saving ground all the way, never relinquished command. Laurie raced with Recreation in the early stages, but she put him away before the stretch was reached. Then Joe Marrone III., which had been in third place, made his move and came into second place, but Fields was wide awake and kept the mare at her ta.sk. An eighth out Joe Marrone III. was under a drive in an effort to catch her, but she swept past the line two lengths clear. Spear Rock had come fast in the stretch and was well lapped on Joe Marrone III., and five lengths before Genial Host with the others following along well beaten. Hale bumped his way through to victory with Buddha, from the Jachen Stable, in the second race. A claim of foul was lodged by Fields, who rode Clairdine, but it was not allowed, though there seemed to be good reason for action. Second went to Mint Grass, and third was the portion of Shasta Grafton, which beat Tester for that part of the purse. There was some delay at the post, and when the field was sent away Adjutant, Last Bite and Herbier had scant chance, while Buddha, which caused the delay, ieft with the leaders. Whitehall was the one to set the pace, but Clairdine was right with him, and Mint Grass was not far back. Buddha was rushed through with Mint Grass, while Clairdine lost some ground because of interference. Hale got away with it and came on to be winner by three lengths, with Buddha over Mint Grass, and Shasta Graftoi being third by reason of interference suffered by the others. VICTORY FOB VIRGINIA. A real Virginia victory came out of the opening five furlongs dasn, for maiden juveniles, when Fire Bell wu winner for Dr. J. P. Jones, who bred the daughter of Blazes and Kings Belle. Incidentally, Dr. Jones has been having a full measure of success at the Aqueduct meeting and he is sending fit horses to the post. This was one of those races for boys who had not ridden fifteen winners, which did not add to its attractiveness with the crowd. Monica was the one to cut out the running, Lut she was never far away from the daughter of Blazes and at the end she stepped to the front wi.h little effort. Monica saved the place, and raddoek, the E. M. Byers starter, led the others home. There was a real thrill came out of the race for three-year maidens, which was the fifth offering. This was a mile race and at the end it saw a stirring finish, in which W. R. Coes Dail outgamed George H. Bulls Wood-god to be winner by a nose, with Electa, from the Middlebarg Stable, just saving third from W. T. Andersons Merry Andrew. Merry Andrew set the early pace, with Woodgod and Dail chasing after her. This order was maintained to the stretch, whore the other two ran past the Anderson three-year-old and all through the stretch run it was a bitter fight. Dail had the inside berth and right at the end he proved best. At the end of the program B. S. Cutlers Sea R;p s. t the pace for seven-eighths to beat home a cheap field. Proxima raced to second place and third was the portion of Complication. In this Mob gave no end of trouble in the stalls by his kicking and he was finally taken to the outside of the machine, from where he started. »
