FREDDEN ROCK DIES NEW YORK, N. Y., June 20.— Gwynn Tompkins lost a jumper that he had just about ready for a return to the races when Fredden Rock dropped dead after a slow gallop at Belmont Park yesterday morning. This fellow was a son of Sea Horse II. and Relle of Bryn Mawr and was the last of the get of Sea Horse II., which was imported to this country by Tompkins. Sea Horse II. broke down so badly in his second start in this country that he was ordered destroyed, but Tompkins insisted on patching him up for stud duty and he proved a great success as a stock horse. His best was Weldship, which was one of the great horses of American steeplechasing. When complimented on the victory of Brice in the Wheatley Steeplechase of Wednesday, trainer Tompkins said that the old fellow won with plenty to spare, but that he had come out of the race in rather bad shape and is not likely to be back to racing for some time.
