1 ; ! 1 ; LEXINGTON TURF NOTES j g : a LEXINGTON, Ky., April 23. Robert McGarvey, trainer of the Stuyvesant . Peabody horses, motored from Louisville for the sport. McGarvey reported that Martie Flynn, winner of the 1929 Clark Handicap, has been training in the best of fashion. McGarvey has nine horses quartered at Churchill Downs. Jockey Carl Meyer accompanied McGarvey from the falls city. R. E. Letellier, whose horses are quartered rtt Churchill Downs, was a visitor from his home at Shelby ville, Ky. Jockey H. Fisher has been engaged to ride J. N. Camdens Sydney in his races here. The son of Craigangower is scheduled to make his bow in a mile race Saturday and several others of the outstanding Kentucky Derby hopefuls here may oppose him. Judge James E. Edwards, who is mentioned as a likely successor to Charles E. Marvin as president of the Thoroughbred Horse Asso-iation and Mose Lowcnstein, were in the big Louisville delegation. R. W. Collins reports the arrival of a full brother to Lee O. Cotner at his Elmhurst Farm. The youngster, a son of High Time and Precious Pearl, arrived Tuesday. Lou Calm, veteran trainer, came in yesterday from New York and, after taking in todays sport, left for Louisville. Mose Goldblatt, among the busiest of the trainers in Kentucky, came from Louisville, where he has close to a score of Harry Payne Whitneys horses in training and saddled the latters Niato for the Ashland Oaks. The division of his stable quartered here embraces nine head. Jockey J. Beech came in from California and reported to Jesse Spencer, his contract employer. - Todays visitors included Frederick Johnson, well-known breeder and master of Scarlet Gate Farm. He reports a number of good looking foals at his picturesque nursery and is particularly keen on several of the get of Brown Bud. The popular white and green colors of Col. E. R. Bradley made their initial appearance of the season in Kentucky when the filly Beaming Over carried them in the Leland Hotel Purse this afternoon. A number of the Bradley horses are scheduled for racing here during the closing half of the meeting. Jack Howard took a half interest in the three-year-old Mike Carey with H. W. Steele and added him and his own Lady Coventry to the stable he has in training here. In all Howard is training, ten, . he having turned put several that campaigned during the winter. A. S. Lewis has taken up the three-year-old Renville to train and race for J. L. Knight, local patron. Among the dozen horses IT. Cavanagh has in training here are three, the property of G. H. Walkers Log Cabin Stable. All are by Ladkin, with two juvenile fillies and the three-year-old Happy Lad making up the trio.
