MOST CHEERFUL OUTLOOK Fairmount s Single Meeting Plan Promises Best Results. Ninety Stables Given Room at CollinsYillc, Thirty With High-Grndc Horses Meeting Begins 31 a j- 10. COLLINSVILLE, 111., April 23. The banner season of Fairmount Jackey Club, which dates back to 1925, seems imminent judging from the sentiment and the number of high class horses registered for the opening of the forly-nine-day meeting May 10, and ending July 5. For the first time in the history of the Collinsville oval, there are more applications by some 500 for stable room than ever before and general manager Robert S. Eddy, Jr., has instructed racing secretary Julius Reeder to allot room only to those who have racing stables with active racing horses.- Messrs. Eddy and Cattarinich assumed control of Fairmount last fall and conducted a fourteen-day meeting. While the venture was introductory, the meeting was a success. The new management made numerous friends for racing in this section. This season, after some deliberation, the management decided to conduct but one meeting. They figured they could better concentrate high class horses over a forty-nine-day period and retain stables which, ordinarily, would go to other tracks. The result promises to be highly satisfactory. Racing secretary Julius Reeder has either received nominations or assurances regarding such stars for the Fairmount Derby, Slay 24, as Gallant Knight, Crazy Coot, Michigan Boy, Ladrone, Sydney, High Foot and others. Some ninety stables have been assigned room at this course and "sixty of this number are already on the grounds. Fifty of the total raced here last season and sixteen of the total are St. Louis and Illinois-owned stables. Such horses as Inception, winner of the Philadelphia; Thistle Fyrn, winner of the Camden; Alexander Pantag.es, second in the . Agua Caliente Handicap; Longus, Brown "Wisdom and My Dandy, which were in the Agua Caliente stake ; Playfellows Dream, second in the Florida Derby; Michigan Boy, winner of the Louisiana Derby; Thistle Ann, crack three-year-old and leading money winner as a juvenile for George Collins; Kings-port, winner of four stakes; Mole Hill, Wizardry, Genuine, Bocaratone, Flag Bearer, Arcturus and others will race here. Secretary Reeder figures he has thirty stables which have stake horses to fill the eleven stakes which will be run during the meeting. There is an excellent chance of Misstep, Mose Lowensteins charge, coming here. General manager Eddy announced there would be the usual ladies day, once a week, as established last fall. New and better transportation facilities are being arranged. Instructions have been passed along to extend a generous measure of hospitality to all patrons. Officials are the same as last fall.
