TANFORAN HORSES ARRIVE Three More Cars From Frisco . Reach Aurora Close to 5 0 0 Head on Grounds. AURORA, 111.. April 23. With the arrival of three more cars from Tanforan at the local course, the equine colony is now estimated close to 500 head, and with at least 300 more to come from Kentucky, Ohio and the East, after the close of several of the meetings now in progress, there will be enough horses on hand when the bugle calls on Thursday, May 1, to provide the spirited contests for which the Aurora course is well known from the past. The class of horses that are to race here this year is quite above the average of for-- mer years, being especially augmented by a better grade of two-year-olds than heretofore. The stables of B. A. Jones and John B. Theall are far in the lead, with at least twenty head of juveniles among them. With the arrival of the J. P. Headley and O. L. Foster string, the number of two-year-olds should easily reach the 200 mark. Among the older candidates of class are to be found such well-known performers as Trieze, Big Sweep, Jack Haskell, Klingstone. Don Alvardo, Watergap, Alto, Bridegroom, Richu, Andromeda, Queen Towton, Bramstar, Old Kickapoo, Tommy Lad, Blameless, Old Dutch, Taddywawa, Bob Rogers, Leyland, The Dago. Gibbons, Jaclc Alexander, Garnjsh, Lawyer, Charm, Big Chief and Film. The Bahr gate, which has been used with such success for the past two years in this territory, was unloaded here and is to be used for the first time .at the local track. This is the machine that has been adopted at all the Chicago tracks. Dave Boggart reports the "arrival of a colt out of his mare Kirk Lady, which he sent to the court of Cloister at the farm of B. A. Jones. Arrivals here yesterday from Tanforan were carloads containing the horses of C. B. Irvin, E. L. Snyder, J. Lee, J. Cooper, Stuart Polk and J. Dowell. The shipment comprised thirty-five head in all. Eddie Thomas, who is assistant to Harry Morrisey, was an arrival from Tanforan. He is going to start schooling horses Thursday morning.
