ENGLISH OWNER TRIUMPHS Special Cablegram. LINGFIELD, England. May 4. — Four horses started in the May Blossom Steeplechase Handicap here today. Three were owned by Americans and the other by an Englishman. The spoils went to the later, H. B. Brandts Nearest, defeating R. K. Mellons Alike by a head. M. D. Blairs Cherry finished eight lengths back, beating home Stephen Sanfords Sandy Hook, the only other starter. Alike was the favorite at even money. The winner paid 5 to 2.
