BEULAH FEATURE TO LETALONE COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 4.— Leo Clous Letalone only overhauled Brown Gold during the last few yards of the Sherman Vogue Purse, principal offering at Beulah Park this afternoon, after Brown Gold had led practically from the start. Amsterdam outstayed the others, beating Hippias in a drive for the minor award. Following the running, Mr. Clous was presented with a set of silver book ends in the form of a pair of horses taking a hurdle. Ladies Day was responsible for an excellent crowd being on hand to witness the sport. The attending conditions could hardly have been improved upon. Jockey K. McCray, who was taken suddenly ill here Saturday morning, underwent an operation for intestinal trouble, which will cause his absence from the saddle for a couple of months. Jockey R. A. Cheatham, who suffered a fall at Beulah Park on Friday, sustained internal injuries, which are of a very serious nature, according to attending physicians. His lung was punctured by three broken ribs. There was another addition to the riding colony today with the arrival of jockey T. Everett. Because of a sore arm jockey M. Mitchell cancelled his engagements after winning the third race. R. F. Coppage, owner of the Missouri Stable, has shipped Bozo and Yargee to trainer Olie Johnson at Aurora.
