SYRACUSE FAIR MEETING Officials and Other Data for New York Fair Races to Be Held Next September. SYRACUSE, N. Y, May 4.— Stakes for the New York State Fairs race meeting, which is held on the State Fair Grounds at Syracuse, N. Y. , on September 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11, close Monday, May 11, with J. Dan Ackerman, director of the New York State Fair, or Brownell Berryman, racing secretary, Syracuse, N. Y. The track at Syracuse has been plowed up, the paddock remodeled, and all in all made over for the radical change of the race meeting from the trotters to the thoroughbred. Claude B. Fletcher, racing secretary, and John H. Cahill, superintendent of the course, have made tours of inspection of the race courses in the vicinity of New York, and are prepared to say that the grounds and course at Syracuse will compare favorably with most of the New York circuits. Following is a list of officials and the appointment of such men guarantees the general protection of racing: Stewards — Horace White, former governor of New York; G. H. Bull. Thomas Thorp. Placing judges — Brownell Berryman, Stanley Gillespie. Starter — Marshall Cassidy. Clerk of scales — Stanley Gillespie. Paddock judge— G. E. Hall. Patrol judges — G. E. Hall and Joseph Reilly, Jr. Clerk of course — Brownell Berryman.
