DASHAWAY steadily improved his position, came strongly on the outside of the others when straightened out in the stretch and, overhauling the leaders a sixteenth out, won going away. MOTE raced in close quarters between the leaders until midway of the stretch and outgamed CASH PLAY in the final drive. The latter raced on the outside of the others and held on well in the final drive. ONE CENT saved ground in the stretch. PURPLE LIGHT raced wide into the stretch, but finished well. SUN VIEW tired in the last eighth. HIPPIAS, a factor in the last half mile, finished strongly in the center of the track. TWILL worked his way up next to rail, saving much ground in the last half mile. DOMINANT STAR showed good speed from the start, failed to withstand the winners challenge, but held the others safe. SPORTING MAUDIE saved ground in the stretch and outgamed RUFLE, but finished in close quarters. RUFLE went well and finished gamely, as did HASOLA. CHICON raced evenly. The others were outrun. MASTER DURBAR, never far back, came with a rush on the outside in the last sixteenth and got up in the last few yards. LEADER held on gamely at the end to outlast FAIR ATINA. The latter showed the most early speed and held on well. BAFFLING STAR began slowly, closed a big gap and finished strongly. MOLLY HOGAN showed earlv speed, then tired. The others were outrun. ALMA VITA, close up throughout, took command in the stretch, but failed to hold it. SHASTA PRUNE showed early speed, tired in the stretch, but held the others safe. SPURRIER was outpaced throughout, but finished fairly well and had no excuses. ILLUSTRIOUS raced into contention on the far turn on the outside, but tired badly in the stretch. FAIR CITE also tired.
