Widener secured the entire crop of John P. Grier yearlings from F. Wallis Armstrong, the Virginia breeder. John P. Grier has been a success in the stud and has as his outstanding contribution to rac- ing Boojum. The latter, as a two-year-old, was rated on even terms with Whichone. George D. Widener raced another sensational son of John P. Gried in Jack High. He also sent Hijack to the races. The deal just closed calls for fourteen yearlings, seven colts and a like number of fillies. No financial consideration was made known, but it was understood to be a high one. The yearlings will be shipped to the J. E. Widener farm in Kentucky the latter part of August. The purrchase will augment the Widener coming two-year-old string to large numbers.
