HOMEWOOD, 111., June 15.— The second serious training accident of the meeting occurred yesterday morning, and as a result one jockey is in the hospital badly injured, one horse is dead and another reported in a bad way. Jockey C. Turner, under con- tract to J. T. Taylor, is the unfortunate rider, while Machete was instantly killed. Pittsburgher, one of the main contenders for the American Derby, narrowly escaped. Pittsburgher and Machete had finished working in company, and were pulling up when Bobs Luck, trailing at fairly good speed, with Turner in the saddle, charged between the pair and swerved head on into Machete. Turner was thrown heavily, and sustained six broken ribs. Turner is out of danger, but will be unable to ride for some time. ■
