Lawrence Boganschutz, entry clerk, who served in the same capacity at Washington Park, arrived from Chicago this morning and opened the office of the racing secretary. Freddie Burton, his assistant, also came from the Homewood course. William H. Shelley, racing secretary, departs from Chicago tonight and will be here to supervise drafting of the opening day program. Hugh McGinnis, one of starter Hamiltons assistants, arrived this morning from his home in Canada. A close check of horses on the grounds this morning revealed 835 in stalls and 220 are due from Washington Park by Monday. The second of the horse car specials arrived from Washington Park this morning. The train was made up of seven express cars and. made another record breaking journey from Homewood, 111. Headed by the two cars containing twenty horses, the property of R. S. Clark, A. Baker and Arthur Hancock, it also brought the horses of C. E. Hamilton, Howard Oots, W. S. Dudley, T. P. Hayes, E. C. Thatcher, William Reed, Mrs. E. P. Humphrey, Charles Nuck-ols, Jesse Spencer and A. B. Letellier. Stake horses in the shipment were C. C. Van Meters Derby candidate Joey Bibb, Hamilton and Millers Herrick, Independent and Enquirer eligible and candidates for the Cincinnati Trophy and Clipsetta Stakes. St. Brideaux, which will represent Mrs. Payne Whitneys Greentree Stable in the Latonia Derby, arrived from Belmont Park this morning in charge of W. Brennan, who will saddle the son of St. Germans for the race. Jockey C. Kurtsinger, who was astride Twenty Grand in his Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes triumphs, came on the same train. St. Brideaux was accompanied by a work companion and a pony. The trio were quartered in one of the new barns which houses the western division of tSie Green-tree Stable trained by Eddie Haughton. Dan Lehan arrived from Louisville with the horses Elizabeth Kennedy, Top Hattie, Bell Run, Bernice Van, Gramachree, Miss Burke, Bronze Bird, Queen Sarah, Jacqueline Coogle, Verda French and Our Mary. Elizabeth Kennedy, which went amiss at Latonia last summer, was put back in training this spring and may be seen under colors during the meeting. W. Crump, trainer of the J. W. Parrish horses, leased the services of apprentice T. Roderick for the Latonia and Lincoln Fields meetings. The lad rode his first winner at Riverside Park and was quite successful during the Washington Park meeting. The horses I. Kort brought here are Crystal Gazer, Jodice K. and Lady Millen. E. R. Plunkett has Fair Barbara and Noelwood for his own account, and Kentucky Bill and Busy Bell for W. Pohlabeln. Charles Grayson has Big Business and Aerie, which have been here awaiting the meeting. Star Play, the property of R. L. Stivers, and the two-year-old Locust Moss, which will race for C. Lyne, arrived, the former coming from Washington Park. Jockey C. Corbett, who is engaged to ride Pittsburgher in the Derby, will arrive from Chicago Friday. Corbett has been astride the son of In Memoriam in all of his important engagements. Two express cars containing the twenty-four horses of Jack Howard and F. A. Car-reaud, are due from Washington Park tomorrow morning. It is expected that the pretentious Gallaher and Combs stable will arrive at the same time. J. C. Ellis, president of the Dade Park Jockey Club, has reserved eleven stalls, and his horses are due the end of the week. J. C. Milan is bringing seven horses from Lexington. They have been in training at the Kentucky Association course. The seven horses A. D. Steele is campaigning for C. C. and G. Y. Hieatt are due from Bainbridge Park Saturday. Hanly Ragan came from Lexington with Draha, Mary Marvin and four others. T. B. Youngs Our Cherrycote and Chi-con, which went from here to Bainbridge, returned and will be trained by Cliff Porter. C. C. Van Meters Joey Bibb, which finished third to Mate and Pittsburgher in the American Derby, and candidate for the Latonia Derby, arrived from Washington Park in one of the cars that contained the Clark, Baker and Hancock horses. Owner and trainer Van Meter will arrive from Chicago tomorrow to supervise his final workout before the running of the fixture.
