f HAMILTON, 0NT., TURF NOTES f $ $ HAMILTON, Ont, June 25. A new record for Canadian tracks was established when fifteen apprentice riders notified J. J. Farrell that they were prepared to accept mounts during the Hamilton Jockey Club meeting. All were passed by the stewards and they include: C. Compton, J. Hallworth, A. Gaither, F. Lange, V. Arthur, H. Hauser, B. Marshio, W. Parker, G. Thompson, A. Diliddo, A. Kelman, F. Rose, A. Leyland, J. Brice and E. McLaughlin. W. S. Payne, who races a big band of racers on the Canadian circuit under the nom de course of the Geneseo Stable, was an arrival from Washington, D. C. This is the first visit this season for the Washington sportsman and he will remain for the duration of the Hamilton meeting before returning to his headquarters. Jockey W. Prior, promising lightweight, has been engaged to handle several of the J. P. White racers during the remainder of the season in Canada. Prior arrived from Aqueduct in company with trainer Frank J. Kearns, who handles the White performers. Jockey J. Pollard, who rode with good success during the Long Branch and Duf-ferin Park meetings at Toronto, will be forced from the saddle for a lengthy period. Pollard underwent an X-ray examination at the general hospital at Toronto on Wednesday and the diagnosis of the plates revealed that the lad is suffering from kidney stones. Jockeys W. Curran and W. Prior, both of whom are affiliated with the J. P. White stable, that is quartered at Hamilton, made the first appearances in silks in Canada this season when the former rode Step Forward in the opening event and Prior rode Irish Maiden in the fifth race on Thursday.
