CHURCHILL DOWNS FEATURES Four Stakes Scheduled for Louisville Meeting Merge Debutante and Bashford Manor Stakes. LOUISVILLE, Ky., Jan. 5. Featured by the 0,000 added Kentucky Derby, the list of stakes to be decided during the spring meeting at Churchill Downs were announced today. This program was approved by the Kentucky State Racing Commission at its meeting. The four stakes which will be run during the nineteen days of racing, beginning Saturday, April 30, and closing Saturday, May 21, follow: Kentucky Derby, 0,000 added, for three-year-olds, at one mile and a quarter. Kentucky Oaks, ,000 added, for three-year-old fillies, at one mile and an eighth. Clark Handicap, ,000 added, for three-year-olds and over, at one mile and a sixteenth. Bashford Manor Stakes, ,000 added, for two-year-olds, at five furlongs. The Kentucky Oaks and the Clark Handicap, formerly 0,000 stakes, have been reduced to ,000. The Grainger Memorial Handicap, an event for three-year-olds and over, at one mile and a quarter, has been temporarily discontinued. The Debutante Stakes, for two-year-old fillies, has been merged with the Bashford Manor Stakes. The Bashford Manor formerly was for two-year-old colts and geldings. It is now an event for two-year-olds of both sexes. The Clark Handicap will be run on the opening day of the meeting, April 30; the Kentucky Derby on May 7; the Debutante Stakes on May 14, and the Kentucky Oaks on May 21. Stake blanks will be mailed out January 15 and the stakes will close on February 3.
