HIALEAffS ELECTRIC BOARDS Finish, Mutuel Prices, Time and Official Sign Shown by Electric Bulb System. MIAMI, Fla., Jan. 5. An innovation at Hialeah Park will be the electrically controlled result board, which is being installed by the General Electric Company and which will be ready for operation at the end of the current week. This board will display the placed numbers, official sign, mutuel prices and the time of the race by means of a patented electric bulb system, such as is in use oh the approximate odds boards at Pimlico. Much time is saved in the posting of the finish and the mutuel prices. The finish panel is directly controlled by the placing judges and the official sign by the stewards. The time sign is operated by the official timer and the mutuel prices are posted by remote control from the mutuel plant. "The Pimlico odds boards are the only other boards of this type in use in America," said H. L. Straus, who is installing the boards at Hialeah. "However, most major tracks in England, including Ascot and Newmarket, use it as a unit of the tote which we installed there."
