I SIXTEEN AMERICAN-OWNED IN THE GRAND NATIONAL 1 bjecial Cablegram LONDON, England, Jan. 7. It was announced today that fifty-eight jumpers had been nominated for the Grand National Steeplechase at Aintree, Liverpool, March 18. This is the smallest number of nominations received in several years, due largely to the new conditions for the race, which bar mediocre performers. This group includes John Hay Whitneys Sir Lindsay, R. M. Mellons Glan-gesia and Alike; M. D. Blairs Great Span and Bally Hanwood, H. D. Selfridges Rud-dyman, and Sea Soldier. The latter is owned by a syndicate of ten Americans, Mrs. R. P McCormick, B. L. Behr, Walcott Blair, E. A. Cudahy, Jr., C. F. Glore, W. B. Judah, A. H. Niblack, D. M. Rogerson, V. C. Spalding and R. J. Thorne. Sea Soldier is a son of Man o War and was shipped to this country from the United States last fall.
