BOB WEIDEL, lucky throughout and, away fast, saved ground after reaching the turn, improved his position rapidly when urged in the stretch and, passing BIG BLUE on the inside, drew away fast in the final fifty yards. BIG BLUE, lucky at the start and, taken into the lead, raced under light restraint for half a mile and, swerving out badly in the stretch, tired after reaching the final sixteenth. DRURY, away in a tangle, improved his position gradually and closed fast. MUST HURRY, a factor throughout, had no mishaps and held on fairly well. INDIAN LEGEND, away poorly, showed a good performance. SONNY BASIL was hard ridden. MAD FINN began well, but dropped far out of it after a quarter. OBSTINATE GIRL and MARDELLE were away poorly. SOLUS dropped far out of it and was badly outrun to the stretch, where he closed with a rush after going to the outside. ST. JIM began slowly, raced wide under weak handling throughout and closed ground in the stretch. POLYFON showed speed, had the firmer footing throughout and held on well. NOBLE WRACK held on gamely. AGAPANTHUS pulled up lame. BRINKLEY showed speed, stumbled on the stretch turn, then tired when straightened out in the closing quarter. ITSO was knocked back shortly after the start.
