DIGGINS, off slowly, improved his position steadily in the early running and, coming fast on the outside in the stretch, wore down the early leaders to score handily. FACCHINA was also away slowly and suffered some interference, but was going gamely on the inside at the end. MARIE O. acted badly at the barrier, but beat the others away to obtain a good lead at once, only to tire badly in the last eighth. PARA WICK also weakened. MEADOW KING and POITOU tired.
