FOALS AT CATTARINICH FARM Colts by Cudgel From Joella J. and Lotto Arrive at Noted Vercheres Stud. MONTREAL, Que., Feb. 10. Two eligibles for the running of the Kings Plate at the Blue Bonnets race course, three years from next summer, arrived at Joseph Cattari-nichs Vercheres Farm, near here, Monday morning. The foals are owned by Mr. Cat-tarinich, who several years ago took up the breeding of thoroughbreds on a larger scale than has been carried on in Quebec in some years. The youngsters are both colts by Cudgel, which carried the colors of J. K. L. Ross to victory in numerous stake events. Cudgel is now standing at Vercheres1, and Lotto and Joella J., dams of the two colts, are among the many well-bred mares at the same picturesque nursery. Lottos foal is one of the best looking ever foaled at Vercheres. He is a good size and much stronger than the usual early foal. Lotto was a good race mare and won a number of important engagements. She is royally bred and her blood lines combined with those of Cudgel should produce the finest racing type. The foal from Joella J. should prove a good campaigner, if he possesses any of the qualities of his dam and sire. Joella J. was a fast mare and was raced with marked success by Senator Raymond -under the training of Jim Boden and was well known under colors to Montrealers. Other foals are expected this month at the farm, the majority of them by Cudgel, whose get have been showing more promise each season.
