j HIALEAH PARK MAY ADD j j EXTRA WEEK TO MEETING MIAMI, Fla., Feb. 10. Joseph E. Widener has been asked by the Florida Racing Commission if he would consent to continue the season at Hialeah Park for a week beyond the closing date of February 27, in the event that the Tropical Park meeting of the Gables Racing Association was not opened February 29, the date selected for that season. His answer was that if it was the desire of the commission he would continue for that period. In the meantime, the publicity for the new association announces elaborate preparations for the second season at Tropical Park. Frank J. Bruen has been in New York for some time, and there has come no definite announcement of plans by the others of the association. In any event, should the Tropical Park meeting be declared off for any reason it is assured, on the agreement of Mr. Widener that the Miami season will continue for another week after the announced closing date of February 27.
