I FAIR GROUNDS TURF NOTES ?1 and Rene Laurin, who rode his first winner when he brought Princess Crusader home in front in the last race Monday, is under engagement to Joseph Leiter and is a native of Ottawa, Canada. He can scale aa light as ninety-nine pounds, and N. K. Beal, trainer of the Leiter stable, looks for him to make good. A carload of horses, a majority fillies and mares to be retired for breeding purposes, leave tomorrow for Lexington. William Irvine, trainer of the S. W. Labrot horses, today began to weed qut the winter division of the stable, eight or ten of which are to be disposed of, selling Skidmore to the Lone Star Stable and Graphite to G, R. Allen. Deals for others, including Kay Frances and Anne Arundel, may be consummated tomorrow. Irvine hopes to get away for his employers Holly Beach Farm in Maryland next week and upon arrival there will take over the training of some twenty-odd horses. Jockey Willie Garner resumed riding today following a short suspension for rough riding. Joseph Cattarinich and Mrs. Cattarinich leave next week for Hot Springs, where they will vacation for about two weeks before proceeding to Montreal. Mr. Cattarinich returned from Havana and Miami a few days ago.
