JACK ANTHONY ON MEND NEW YORK, N. Y., Feb. 17 Jack An- thony, the English trainer who for eighteen months has been an invalid with a fractured leg, is at last on the road to complete recovery, according to reports from England, While visiting his American patron, John Hay Whitney, at his Virginia estate in the summer of 1930, Anthony, while jumping a small fence on Lone Eagle H. a good winner this winter in England, was thrown from his mount and sustained a compound fracture of the leg. Since then the horse- man, who rode three Grand National winners, has suffered much from his injured limb and undergone several operations. Early this month at Leicester, Anthony, on crutches, saw his charge, John Hay Whitneys Rosy Covert, win the Melton Steeplechase. He informed his many friends that he is on the mend. He reported that he can use his leg, and hopes in a few weeks to walk without assistance. I 1 4 j J I 1
