The latter took the lead when BROWN MASTER tired. AHPET finished gamely on the outside. HEHUKAI was outrun early, but made up ground in the stretch. SHASTA SNOW came fast after entering the stretch and, after swerving to the inside to interfere with SILVER MAN at midstretch, took a short lead, but hung slightly near the end. BAD BOY was in early trouble and, saving ground in the stretch, got up in time to finish on even terms with SHASTA SNOW. SILVER MAN was racing strongly when he was crowded by SHASTA SNOW in the stretch. CHICLERO was going very fast at the end. DEALER, and WICKER tired. LUKE JR., BETFANDOT and BROWN THISTLE suffered in a jam rounding the first turn. RUN OFF OF THE DEAD HEAT The first dead heat of the season and the second ever witnessed .on the Agua Caliente course came about today when in the fifth race, a seven furlongs affair for rather cheap sprinters, Shasta Snow, from the Oaktree Stable, and Frank Rineharts Bad Boy finished on equal- terms. Both came from behind to finish strongly. After a consultation between owners and officials, it was decided that the. two horses should run off the dead heat and they were given about a half hour to rest up.
