. , HAD POSITIVE IDENTIFICATION Judge Nelson States Horse Which Raced at Agua Caliente Course Was Gailmont. AGUA CALIENTE, Mexico, Feb. 24. Regarding the identification of the horse Gailmont, which raced at Agua Caliente before being shipped to Miami, Judge Nelson stated today that the horse that was here was positively identified as Gailmont. Not only did owner Kane have the papers with corresponding markings, but the registrar of The Jockey Club verified the markings by wire. Officials say that they were positive that the horse which performed here was not dyed, as he was thoroughly washed in the presence of some of their number and had a peculiar white marking on his lip, which it would be almost impossible to duplicate. Judge Nelson stated Gailmont was bred by L. N. Blackwell near Havre de Grace and sold last year to Bud Stotler, who returned him after a couple of months because of unsoundness. Dr. H. J. McCarthy examined Gailmont for Willis Kane before Kane purchased the animal and gave a report which the Agua Caliente stewards have seen. The horse that raced at Agua Caliente was unquestionably Gailmont, further stated the senior steward. Gailmonts identity was questioned by the Agua Caliente officials after he had won two races at the course and a large amount money had been wagered on him. When they called owner Kane for an interview the following day it is said that he could not be located, but he eventually returned from Hollywood, where he had been visiting, and he and his horse were cleared of suspicion. He departed for Miami with the horse week or so later. . , 3 , j j J I , 3 , 1 1 e e e o of n e e n 1 i. a a
