FAIR GROUNDS TURF NOTES Apprentice Gilbert Elston, inactive for ten days, as a result of an injury, received while filling an engagement at the Fair Grounds, is to resume riding Wednesday. Following a short illness, L. A. "Red" Connor, trainer of the horses of Mrs. Olive Curtis, was up and around today. Pat Garitty resumes riding Wednesday after a ten-day suspension for rough-riding. W. Sims, acting for R. C. Thatcher, purchased Golden Mac from Mrs. J. H. Buscher, and the veteran son of Golden Maxim will be sent to the Thatcher farm in Colorado. Willie Garner reported indisposed and received permission to cancel his mounts for Tuesday. He contracted a cold Monday. During the remainder of the meeting Albert Mott will make the engagements of apprentice W. Magner, Chicago boy. Some few of the horses in the division of J. O. Keenes Keeneland Stud, which W. S. Rust brought here from Kentucky last fall, went to Hialeah Park in the same car with J. J. Robinsons Lucky Tom, Renaissance and others Monday night. This important shipment is due at the Miami course Wednesday mornirlg. H. C. Riddle, trainer of the Robinson stable, also got away for the Florida city. Mr. and Mrs. William Irvine are leaving Saturday for Annapolis, where the S. W. Labrot trainer will inspect the horses of his employer at Holly Beach Farm. Following a week at the farm, Irvine returns here to direct personally the final preparation of Springsteel for the Louisiana Derby. With the close of the meeting the Labrot horses will be shipped to Holly Beach for a short rest. Vic Gallo, local horseman, acquired at private terms from the Superior Stable the veteran Ironsides and the two-year-old My Movie, a bay daughter of My Own and. Movie. A. E. Van Ree ships Flying Pal, Bogan, Stupendous and Nirri the Nymph to Tropical Park tonight. He is taking along M. Clancy, an apprentice. Jockey Frank Burley has affiliated with the stable trained by W. Z. Martin and had his first mount from that stable when he rode Copley Square in the third race today
