Bradley Stable for the seven Latonia Stakes, William Hurley, who has a division at Chi- cago, forwarded a liberal list from that point. It included Bar Hunter for the Inde- pendence and Enquirer Handicaps and Broad Meadows for the Quick Step. Hurley also sent many nominations for the Clipsetta Stakes and Cincinnati Trophy, the two-year-old races. R. J. and P. A. Nash, whose Burning j Blaze was cut down in a trial race for the , Kentucky Derby, will have a Latonia Derby representative in Minton. The son of Angon , and Mintdrop, which T. L. Pierce has at Bainbridge, was also named for the Quick Step, Independence and Enquirer Handicaps. , Baylor Hickman, whose colors were miss- ing for the first time in many years at Churchill Downs this spring, has named Agincourt for the Enquirer Handicap. Hick- j man also made some nominations for the two-year-old stakes, and Mrs. L. J. Hickmans Surly is named for the Quick Step and Enquirer Handicaps. The Hickman horses are being trained at the farm in Jefferson County, but will be shipped to Latonia in the near future. The division of the Greentree Stable, which Jack Middleton has at Chicago, was i one of the largest of the nominators. Middle- , ton will have representatives in the two- « year-old races and the Enquirer Handicap, , while Tweeny was made eligible for the I Oaks. ; Walter Taylor, who saddled many stake winners when training for Hal Price Head-ley and who now conditions the horses of F. A. Carreaud, is another who sent in liberal nominations. The Carreaud horses will : be seen in all of the seven stakes, with Va Carriendo in the Derby and Porters Dream named for the Oaks. J. L. Winscher has the three-year-old Espy , B. and the plater Drastella in training at Latonia. Manta, which won the 1931 Independence and Enquirer Handicaps for Brownell Combs, will try to make it a double this year. The daughter of Cudgel was nomi- j nated for both stakes. M. Burton, father of Fred Burton, who j rode with considerable success a score of | years ago, has the three-year-old maiden, i Flag Flying, at Latonia. Burton purchased the horse from Joseph E. Widener. A. A. Baroni, who invaded Latonia for the first time last summer, has applied for twelve stalls and will ship to that course at the conclusion of the Washington Park meeting. Jesse Spencer is gathering together six horses for a Latonia campaign. The Lexington horseman suffered a severe loss when his racing establishment was swept by fire during Lhc Kentucky Association j spring meeting. Robert McGarvey is bringing twelve horses to Latonia for Stuyvesant Peabody, president of Lincoln Fields. The home-bred Miss Melody, a recent winner at Washing- ] ton Park, and several others that were bred at Mr. Peabodys farm will be in the shipment.
