1 ■ | | | | | . , | ; TORONTO TURF NOTES and ~ * John P. Turner, who has been engaged to serve as racing secretary at the seven-day meeting of the Hamilton Jockey Club, left for a brief visit in Baltimore. Turner, before departing, issued the condition book for the Hamilton meeting and he promises that the meeting at that point will produce the best racing that has been witnessed in Canada this season. He had the promise of his employers when making the book to cater for the best racing material on both sides of the border. Before the running of the first race at Thorncliffe Park Monday, president William Woollatt of the Thorncliffe Breeders and Racing Association, was presented with a silver replica of the Prince of Wales Plate that was recently won by R. W. R. Cowies Queensway. The gift was presented to Mr. Woollatt by a group that consisted of jockeys, mutuel employes and horsemen. Mrs. Woollatt, who was also present, was given a huge bouquet of roses. Fire God, which performed for Carl Clen-denning Friday, came out of the engagement badly lamed and the racer will be placed on the shelf for an indefinite period.
