BLACK FLASH, hard hustled to take command in the first eighth, showed good speed while saving ground and, shaking off SORCERY, drew away smartly when shaken up near the finish. ACAJOU, outrun for the first half mile, went to the outside and closed fast. SORCERY, close up from the start, challenged gamely when straightened out in the stretch, but tired near the end. LORD ROCKVILLE moved away into a commanding lead near the stretch and, saving ground, had enough left to withstand SUN MAN. The latter, slow to get going, was taken very wide in the final half mile and finished resolutely. AIRDROME saved much ground and held on well. PRINCESS PAT COVENTRY finished with a belated rush. CHATHAM QUEEN could not get up. ROSE SPOT tired. JUG OF GOLD stumbled and fell near the closing eighth post. The latter worked her way up and saved much ground in the filial half mile and was wearing down the winner. PORTMESS, close up throughout, tired in the closing eighth. JEAN GAFFNEY finished fast. SCARLET raced evenly. SUGGESTION tired. VIOLET STAR would not extend herself after three-quarters. STRIKEOUT was cased up.
