TORONTO OWNERS FARE WELL Furnish Winners of the First Four Races at Dufferin Park Fair Avis Scores in Feature. TORONTO, Ont., June 20 Toronto-owned thoroughbreds fared remarkably well at Dufferin Park today, the winners of the first four races being locally owned, and in the first, third and fourth races the entire three placed horses were owned by a Torontonian. Though there was no feature down for decision, it "was interesting sport that was arranged, with the fifth race bringing out the best field of the afternoon. This was over one mile and a sixteenth. H. G. Bed-wells Fair Avis was the winner in a bitterly fought contest with Flying Zeno, from the Power City Stable, with Wandering Gold, J. Arthurs representative, after setting all the pace, finishing third. Burnside was the favorite here, but after racing to the first turn in front, was unable " to keep his position when he found difficulty in making the short turns. Wan-derng Gold went to the front straightening out on the back stretch and held sway until the final furlong, where Fair Avis, which had encountered trouble, fought her way clear to wear down the pacemaker and draw into a lead of a half length by the time the finish line was reached. Flying Zeno, which lacked speed to keep up in the early stages, worked his way up gradually, came to the outside for the final drive and succeeded in catching Wandering Gold at the finish to take second place. Another large crowd visited Dufferin Park Monday, summer-like weather prevailed, and there were thrills enough to suit the most exacting.
