....... - - -- -------t NO FEDERAL TAX ON j HORSEMENS BADGES j LATONIA, Ky., June 20. According to a ruling from Dave Burnet, collector of internal revenue at Washington, received by Mose Goldblatt from Fred Forsythe, secretary of the Thoroughbred Association, horsemen will not be called on to pay taxes on their admission badges. Mr. Burnet has ruled that the horsemen are a part and parcel of racing, the same as race track employes, and they will not have to pay the ten per cent tax. The horsemen, led by Goldblatt, sent Forsythe to Washington to see if it was necessary for the horsemen to pay a tax of 20 cents a day. Forsythe wired Goldblatt as follows : "Internal Revenue Commissioner Burnet has given his oral opinion for former Senator Stanley, J. C. Stone and myself that all badges necessary to the conduct of racing will be tax free. I will get a written opinion from Burnet Monday and will forward it." Goldblatt expects to receive this written opinion tomorrow. The Latonia Jockey Club is awaiting the arrival of the opinion before giving out a statement in regard to the tax.
