WASHINGTON PARK NOTES I i Max Hirsch, trainer for M. L. Schwartz, owner of Gusto, winner of this years American Derby, has written the Hawthorne management asking for six blanks for the stakes that will feature the August meeting at the west side track. If Gusto goes on at his Derby pace, he probably will be a factor in the Gold Cup. Frank Otis, paddock judge at Washington Park, begins his new duties this week at Hawthorne. He will "work under racing secretary Joseph McLennan and will assist in assembling entries for the stake events. Trainer Tommy Taylor sold the contract that he held on jockey Charles Turner, Louisville, Ky., lad, to F. A. Carreaud. The boy reported to his new employer at Arlington Park Saturday morning. The Carreaud stable was split into two divisions, trainer Walter Taylor taking the main band to Latonia. Jockey W. Chidgey, one of the best of the apprentice boys that have been performing at Riverside Park, came to Chicago to ride at Arlington. Chigey, one of the lightest of riders, has improved greatly since last season and is reported to be a finished pilot. He is under contract to M. Syufy. The good sprinter War Glow, which recently suffered from an attack of fever, has completely recovered and will be shipped to Arlington Park with others of the O. L. Foster string.
