Knebelkamps good three-year-old and winner of the Queen City Handicap, at this track last fall, had preparation of "importance for the Latonia Derby, to be run Saturday, when he breezed a mile and one-quarter through the mud here this morning in 2:15. It was an easy, but beneficial gallop for the unsexed son of Lee O. Delivered was kept out of the Kentucky Derby by an injury, suffered while in training for that Churchill Downs fixture. Another Latonia Derby eligible which worked through the mud this morning was Raoul Walshs Irish-bred Border Warrant, which has yet to make his formal bow in this country. He covered a mile in 1:49, handily, the quarter in :25, half- ! mile in :52, and three-quarters in 1:20. Border Warrant was a winner with the best juvenile company in Ireland last year. Latonia officials today awaited word from various of the owners and trainers of leading eligibles for Saturdays fiftieth annual running of the Derby. They look for such smart three-year-olds as Marmion, Prince Hotspur, Oscillator, Adobe Post, Big Beau, Yonkel, Stepenfetchit and possibly a few others of lesser renown to travel from Chicago to race the mile and one-half of this prized old race, which carries 5,000 in added money and a handsome and valuable trophy. Knebelkamp i and Morris, owners of Adobe Post, won the 1931 Latonia Derby with Spanish Play. i. - . - i
