AYMOND RECOVERS FORM Furnishes Decided Upset in Accounting for the Oakville Handicap. Easily Takes Measure of Shady Well and Froth Blower Hamiltons Third Day of Racing Under Ideal Conditions. HAMILTON, Ont., June 28. Turning in his best performance of the season after suffering defeat in six other efforts this year and meeting practically the same sort of company that opposed him on previous occasions, with the exception of R. W. R. Cowies sterling home-bred Froth Blower, Aymond, bearing the silks of RylandH.New, recovered his old time form suddenly at the mid-city course of the Hamilton Jockey Club today to cause an upset in the running of the Oakville Handicap that featured a good program. Opposed by three others in addition to Froth Blower, Aymond left little doubt as to his superiority. Taking into an advantageous lead directly after the start of the mile and seventy yards journey, the New veteran sped along at a rapid clip for the entire distance to accomplish his first success of the season in easy fashion. At the end Aymond, under the alert Joe Mal-ley, was four lengths in advance of Shady Well, the lone three-year-old of the five that performed. Third fell to Pat Gaiety, and Froth Blower easily staving off the futile effort of Gay Parisian. Aymond was the outsider amongst the five that started, but displayed a turn of speed that was calculated to bring results. Rushed hard to the first turn and successfully gaining his mission, the veteran son of Roselyon Ablaze, opened up a lead of four lengths in the first six furlongs and, holding on with the same brand of speed when shaken up for the final drive, easily resisted the closing effort of Shady Well. The latter was always in the thick of contention and at the end was just a length before Pat Gaiety, while Froth Blower found his burdensome weight too much and was just a Continued on twenty-first vage.J AYM0ND RECOVERS FORM Continued from first page. length in advance of Gay Parisian as he brought up in fourth position. With ideal racing weather -and a track that could hardly have been improved upon and with some of the better class performers engaged during the afternoon, there was increased enthusiasm for the program of the third day of the Hamilton Jockey Club season. Outsiders were again in the majority, although there were popular scores when Wacket and Donald Lad were winners of their respective numbers. Wacket, from the J. J. Burns- establishment, and jockey Lang proved the winning combination in the opening dash, at six and one-half furlongs, for plater sprinters, and the score was exceedingly popular when they flashed across the winning mark a length and a half before Chilegold, from the Geneseo Stable, while Shiva, from the Mrs. R. Pollard stable, earned third in a drive over H. Gallaghers Altsheb and the eight others. J. C. Fletchers Clarry and A. Parker were both graduated from the non-winning ranks when they were first to finish in the six and one-half furlongs of the second race that attracted ten maiden sprinters. Each of the entries received the services of maiden riders and the triumph of the Fletcher three-year-old came as a mild surprise when his score was rounded out by a half dozen lengths. Second fell to Candy Pot, from the Seagram Stable, after he raced in command for the greater part of the way and third was landed by Royal Guest, from the R. H. New stable, when he took a half length decision over Frigid Frosty. Fair Orb, from the Erindal Stable of Coulter Brothers, continued her winning rampage when she raced to her third successive triumph by taking the measure of ten other distance performers in the third race. Held at liberal odds and under perfect handling by R. Mozei, Fair Orb, after following the pace set by Princess Zelda, assumed command on the second turn and kept under steady pressure, finished the route two lengths in advance of Politen, from the W. C. Dunford barn. Third was accounted for by the early pacemaker, Princess Zelda, and J. C. Kirk-patricks veteran Homelike came to the finish before the seven others. Juveniles of good grade started in the Barton Plate, that was the second best race and which was run as the fourth. . This saw a field of ten starting and there was a uopular result, when Donald Lad, in the : : l ; . ! . , t : l i ! l 3 : t ; - - 3 l ; I I . - - silks of the Pasadena Stable, was returned a driving winner. Silly Sis, a lightly regarded member, was not seriously threatened as she finished in second place, while Mrs. C. V. Wingfields Aleeta, racing coupled with William Garths Peeved, landed third before R. S. McLaughlins Phosphoresence and the six remaining entrants. Ridden by R. Tremayne and racing at the heels of Flower Time and Silly Sis, the Pasadena gelding took command by a brief margin when straightened out for the final drive and, holding on with rare courage, was winner by a head. Silly Sis saved second by four lengths and Aleeta was a length and one-half before the R. S. McLaughlin colt, which led the others.
