PROCESSION OF LONG SHOTS , elso, Title Oak and Ivan W. Pay Big Odds at Thistle Down. Jfvette B. Much the Best in Second Race C unci Oma Whisk Runs Second-Joan I. Beats Donday. CLEVELAND, Ohio, Aug 19 Winners of todays races at Thistle Down came from unexpected sources and those racing fans Jvho were so fortunate as to have chosen the successful horses left the track much jricher in purse. The series of long shot Jtyinners began with the success of Ivan W. In the first race, this one paying 3.20 in the mutuels, and continued right on through the fifth race, which was the Ohio Racing Fans Association Purse. This was won by Kelso, a Cloister colt, which was well played the last time he ran at this track, but today .was neglected to the same extent that the players overlooked such other winners as Joan K., in the third, and Title Oak, in the fourth. Title Oaks victory was a huge surprise, notwithstanding the fact that by the time the race was run the crowd had become accustomed to the success of the long shots. ,The gelded son of Title was far back in the beaten field a few days ago, showing little run. Today, on the slow track, he raced well up from the beginning, closed fast on the outside and continued on to beat out Fair Catch, which also made a strong finish and was good enough to take the place from Southland Toy, which had been a factor throughout. Displaying a return to his best form, B. Bagleys Kelso led for the entire trip in the .Ohio Racing Fans Association Purse, the fifth and principal offering. It was only after a hard stretch drive, however, that he succeeded in outlasting Interior, which closed very fast on the inside through the stretch to finish in close quarters next the inner rail. Nuckols Boy raced into second Jlace rounding the far turn, but weakened n the stretch test and at the end was hard pressed to stall off Hehukai for the minor award. Hehukai ruled favorite. She began slowly as usual, but came strongly on the outside during the run home when too late. Dunes went prominently for half the trip, then tired badly. Ivan VV. wore Bad Axe down during the stretch run to annex the opening dash, after a rousing stretch struggle. Polycron, saving ground entering the stretch, raced into third place as Red Vest went wide during the run fcome. Following a long post delay, caused by the unruly actions of Madame B. C, Honor Bound and Sweet Sixteen, Yvette V. outran her field in the second race and won with ease. Oma Whisk and Northern Slip raced closely lapped in closest pursuit of the winner until reaching the last sixteenth, and Oma Whisk proved the gamer during the final test for the second honors. Fusco, the favorite, began slowly and was never prominent. With the running of the third race came a rousing stretch struggle, the winner turning VP in Joan K. She raced on the outside of Ad Remmcon and Mike Carey for the entire trip, but, favored by the best going in the stretch, got up in the last few yards. Donday worked his way up next to the inner rail, Saving much ground, and outlasted Ad Remmcon for second by a narrow margin.
