MONKS STAR, away fast, took a good lead in the early stages and, after blocking TIMOROUS on the stretch turn when the latter attempted to come through on the inside again, opened up a gap and easily led to the end. TIMOROUS, in close quarters early, came fast on the inside near the stretch turn and when just about to take the lead, was cut off by the winner; she then went to the outside and overtook TABAKU. ISLAM moved up strongly on the back stretch to take a short lead on the far turn, but was no match for the winner when it came to a drive. MARTIE FLYNN was in close quarters on1 the back stretch, but bested WHIPPER CRACKER. The latter was shut off by the winner approaching the far turn, but raced fairly well to the end.
