TOP FLIGHTS GREAT RECORD Rules Supreme as Largest Money Winner of Her Sex in the World. Top Flight surely remains queen of the fillies, just as she was queen of both the colts and the fillies of last year. Her victory in the historic old Alabama Stakes at Saratoga Wednesday was accomplished with the utmost ease and by that victory her total earnings were brought to the magnificent total of 73,125. That amount places the daughter of Dis Done and Flyatit fifth on the list of Americas greatest winners, she is topped by Mate for fourth place by a matter of 00 and the others that have a greater money score are Sun Beau with 76,744; Gallant Fox, with 28,165, and Zev, with 13,639. Each one of these is out of training and this miss has an opportunity; to climb still higher on that honor roll. When Top Flight went through her juvenile career without knowing defeat she earned 19,000 and that set a new mark for her sex, now she is right up with the horses crowding them for the top of the list. Sceptre, the notable English mare, with winnings of 97,915, headed all the fillie3 and mares until Top Flight set her record. Princess Doreen, with years of racing endeavor earned 74,745, as the record for fillies and mares in this country previous to last year. That will give an idea of how far Top Flight has gone beyond all the others. This year Mr. Whitneys great filly has been beaten on each occassion she has been pitted against the colts. Her first start of the year was in the Wood Memorial, in. which Universe was winner over Economic. Then Universe went wrong and Economio raced second to Burgoo King in the Kentucky Derby. Her second defeat was in the Classic at Arlington Park, which went to Morton L. Schwartz Gusto, winner of the American Derby. But in that same running William Woodwards present champion of the three-year-olds, which had decisively beaten Gusto in the Belmont and Dwyer, was also soundly beaten. It is admitted that Top Flight was not at her best and that Faireno did not run his race, but the fact remains that the only defeats for the daughter of Dis Done were by colts.
